Brief: NUST FM New Presenter
Share your achievement/success story in detail. My latest achievement at NUST is becoming a NUST FM presenter during my first year. When you come to this university you basically just feel like an insignificant fraction of a bigger picture. Getting this opportunity pushed me up the food chain. It was honestly a blessing that jumped into my lap after a leap of faith. My story begins with a small town (Outjo) girl who was privileged enough to be accepted by this institute. The year has been rough. I thought high school was a hustle until I came here! Adaptation was much needed. Eventually it does get easier, you become less afraid and take whatever opportunity is presented to you and fits your criteria and that is what I decided to do with the help and motivation from a few of my friends. And here I am now, a presenter with a whole journey waiting.
Tell us more about your journey leading up to this moment. It all started with a class presentation. It was one of the modules I love most so I decided to give my all for the presentation. The lecturer and the entire class was really impressed. The lecturer actually advised me to pursue some kind of work that had to do with presenting. I took that into a lot of consideration. A few days later as I was scrolling through Instagram and saw the ad for NUST FM presenters being wanted. I decided I was going to take the opportunity. The audition was to make a 3 minute demo. I ignored the demo until it was the final hour of submission, I was literally on the verge of quitting. I was so stressed and I kept messing up the lines in the demo. It was bad but eventually I tried again. I send it through even if it wasn't my best work. The next day I received an email from them saying I need to send them my contact details I omitted. That gave me hope because why would they want my number if they weren't going to call me? That same day I got the call, I was so ecstatic! That was the beginning of my NUST FM journey.
What does this achievement mean to you and how will you use it to motivate others? I've always felt like I was destined for greater things, but my courage and my dreams were never on the same level. Getting the call back, that day was a sign that what you put your heart into will always come with rewards even if it isn't today or tomorrow. Life is also about taking chances, taking a leap of faith is what brought me here today. Out of all these things, your initial belief is most important. BELIEVE in yourself, always.
What are your plans for the future? Firstly, my biggest plan is obviously to push to graduate and to become a respected pathologist. Secondly, in my media journey, moving to greener pastures is something I'm definitely open to. I just might end up like Hazel on the NAMAs, you never know. It's always good to manifest the positive.
