Brief: Selected to take part in the MultiChoice Talent Factory
Share your achievement/success story in detail. I was recently selected to be a part of the MultiChoice Talent Factory which is an initiative by the MultiChoice group to empower and enhance the skills of film makers in Africa. As part of the multiChoice Talent Factory I will be stationed at Lusaka, Zambia and will be creating content for various DSTV channels such as Mzanzi Magic Zambia, SuperSport, Mnet and local Zambian series and Television channels. The MultiChoice Talent Factory happens across many African countries such as Nigeria, Kenya and Zambia. As part of the initiative myself and 60 other selected students will work on two productions (movies) that willl be showcased on various DSTV channels and Showmax.
Tell us more about your journey leading up to this moment. I have always been very vocal about our local entertainment industry and I am very passionate about seeing it grow. As a NUST FM Radio Personality I have the only show in Namibia on Radio right now that focuses exclusively on local entertainment reviews of content such as movies, music, theatrical productions and events. That being said, my show at NUST FM motivated me to work on much more platforms that highlight and celebrate our local entertainment industry. The MultiChoice Talent Factory comes in handy for me because I want to use all the skills I learn in Zambia and use them in our entertainment industry and grow it.
What does this achievement mean to you and how will you use it to motivate others? This is one of my biggest achievements to date. It's really overwhelming and exciting. It comes with a huge responsibility because Namibia will be looking to us to come and make a change in the film and entertainment industries of our country and Africa. I would like to encourage everyone else that the power of manifestation is very important. If you want to attain a certain goal you have to visualise it and speak it into existence and then you need to put endless amounts of handwork and dedication to achieve your goals.
What are your plans for the future? I want to use the skills and knowledge I gain in Zambia to create content that Namibians would be proud of. I want to create platforms that speak of a true Namibian story. In the future I want to start my own production company that would work on films, documentaries and series that highlight the typical African and Namibian experience. I would also love to teach others through workshops and interactive talks aimed at transferring the skills I will gain from the MultiChoice Talent Factory.
