Brief: Mr First Year 2019

Share your achievement/success story in detail. The hype all started when the Mr and Mrs first year applications poster dropped, friends and family were sending me this poster everyday suggesting that I give it a try. It too became eye catching and I started to consider it until I found myself infront of the SRC president's office submitting my application. I was very nervous and curious at the same time but I got over it as we rehearsed everyday. My confidence too was boosted. So the big day came, I was nervous yet on my toes at some point even thought of turning back but I had a great team behind me and thus I thought twice and felt even more encourged to do it. After some slip-ups in the previous rounds, I surprisingly found myself in the top 5 where the question part was most nerve racking. I answered the question exactly how I was trained and thus ended up being crowned Mr 1st year 2019.

Tell us more about your journey leading up to this moment. I did not have the confidence initially as it was my first time trying out something of this nature. My confidence was boosted when I realised that I actually have an experienced and committed team behind me. I literally grew through rehearsals everyday and I was ready in time for the challenge..

What does this achievement mean to you and how will you use it to motivate others? It means alot to me, I've gained recognition and since I always wanted to be influencial, it is slightly easier to get people to listen to me.

What are your plans for the future? At the moment, I feel like the title I'm currently holding is not as effective as what being an SRC president would be. I want to work towards a bigger and more powerful title.
