Hosea Hashili-Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Project Management)

Brief: Best Student in the second year (2015)

You recently received the best second year student award for the National Diploma in Engineering course (Civil and Project Management). How do you feel about this achievement? I am highly humbled to receive such an award of that magnitude. Glory is to God who through my prayers made that possible. The award not only singles me out as an outstanding performer but it also brings to surface the results of my hard work and serves as motivation to me to work even harder.

What is your learning style and how would you encourage others? Education has been made a grading scheme rather than a knowledge harvest. Quite surprising how students value grades rather than gaining knowledge from Higher education level. I personally don’t study for grades, I study to grasp the context and apply it where it is required. I am that student that would follow the lecturer to their office if I didn’t understand something in class. Since my course is very technical, I try to practice as much as possible and solve as many problems as possible before any exam.

What inspired you to study Civil and Project Management Engineering, and why did you choose to study at NUST? I still believe this was a calling from God because when I started I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but as the years went by. The passion grew and now I am loving it here.

What are your plans for the near future? Plans are better not revealed.I plan to work for one of the well established companies in Namibia and simultaneously stretch my studies to the masters’ level in the new future.
